At the Valsana Hotel, you decide what to do with your downtime. Whether you’re craving speed on wheels or an amble on foot, a light-hearted adrenaline rush or a gentle adventure, we’re here to make it happen. Adé to the sticky city summer; Valsana, here we come! Arosa’s fresh mountain air, crystal-clear lakes and shady forests help you keep a cool head whatever the adventure.
With the Arosa All-Incusive Card you use, among other things, all mountain railways free of charge.
With varied biking trails for every level of difficulty, the appeal of Arosa as a biking El Dorado has long been the region’s worst-kept secret. But did you know that the Valsana Hotel is the perfect base for a biking holiday? We offer hardtail mountain bikes (free) and e-bikes (CHF 40 per day) for hire and loan, a bike shop and workshop, a lockable bike room, a laundry service and insider tips from genuine bike experts. What are you waiting for? Saddle up and let’s go – the 6.8-kilometer Hörnli Trail is waiting to be discovered.
Up, up, into the mountains – as far as your feet will take you! The Valsana Hotel is the perfect starting point for all kinds of excursions on foot: summit ascents, long jogs in the forest or leisurely ambles with spectacular views at every turn. The Arosa-Lenzerheide hiking area offers over 140 kilometres of well-signposted hiking trails to mountain lakes, vantage points, theme parks and mountain huts serving up Grisons specialities.
For bears rescued from poor captive conditions, the Arosa Bear Sanctuary offers a second chance at life in a species-appropriate habitat. Nestled within the mountain landscape, the sanctuary has pastures, bushes, rocks and forests where the bears can (re-)learn their natural behaviours as visitors watch on. Learn more about the fascinating stories of bears Amelia, Meimo, Jamila and Sam on the adventure trails, at bear mini-golf and in the adventure playground.
A firm highlight of the Arosa summer. Have you ever had a squirrel eat nuts out of your hand? These cute critters are particularly active in the summer months – and particularly hungry. The name of the trail says it all: from Tomeli Street to Maran, enjoy a relaxed walk armed with nuts and wait for your new furry friends to say hello. A treat for all ages!
The many lakes in and around Arosa are the perfect way to cool off on balmy summer days, with up to 10 of them accessible via spectacular hiking trails. Daring travellers can take a plunge in one of the higher-altitude lakes, where the water temperature measures at a fresh 10 degrees. Those seeking a gentler excursion will be well served at Untersee (‘Lower Lake’), which offers stand-up paddleboarding, a trampoline and a kids’ paddling pool for fun in and around the water. The connected Obersee (‘Upper Lake’) can be explored in comfort by pedalo.
We believe that people should never stop playing. To celebrate this philosophy, we've curated a special selection of activities aimed at experiencing the Arosa summer through play. Learn new skills and crafts, listen to fascinating stories and find out more about centuries-old traditions as part of our Moving Mountains holiday programme.
