What is personalised training really about?

Matt Gleed has developed a programme with our in-house trainers that is tailored to the individual needs of our guests. For years, his approach has ensured that training at the Tschuggen Grand Hotel is of the highest standard. At its core, personalised training goes far beyond simple adjustments. Matt explains: “Personalised training is about balancing individual mobility, intensity, and the right support. It's crucial not just to improve fitness, but to feel safe and motivated while doing so.

Matt Gleed’s concept demonstrates that fitness is not just about physical strength but also encompasses mobility, nutrition, and mental balance. The fitness studio has not only been renewed but continues to focus on offering a holistic training experience.

The most common training mistakes – and how to avoid them

We asked Matt what the most frequent mistakes people make during training are. He believes it’s often about finding the right level of intensity. Many people tend to either overtrain or undertrain. Both can lead to injuries or lack of progress. An unstructured workout or too much focus on one type of training rarely leads to success, either. According to Matt, a well-balanced mix of different training methods is key to success.

The role of nutrition in training

For Matt Gleed, proper nutrition plays a central role in the training process: You can’t out-train a bad diet. To achieve the best results, training and nutrition must go hand in hand. This means paying attention not only during the workout but also ensuring proper nutrient intake afterwards to fully support the body.

This is why we offer specially developed Moving Mountains dishes, which are part of our holistic Moving Mountains philosophy. In collaboration with renowned nutritionist Rhaya Jordan and our star chefs, plant-based menus have been created to optimally support the body’s recovery after exertion. The dishes are made with nutritious, regional ingredients and are marked with the Moving Mountains symbol on our menus.

A varied sports programme

The Tschuggen Grand Hotel continues to offer the exclusive workout developed by Matt Gleed. This programme is suitable for all fitness levels and is designed to enhance the physical performance and overall wellbeing of our guests.

For those who want to delve deeper into the world of personalised training, our comprehensive sports programme is the perfect complement. From Yoga to Stretch and Relax to functional training – here, everyone finds the perfect way to take their training to the next level.
