Zurich, (7 November 2023). This winter, The Basement restaurant at the Tschuggen Grand Hotel invites guests to enjoy a brand-new dining concept combining ‘Grandma’s recipes’ with locally sourced, high-quality ingredients and a generous pinch of passion. The ambience is warm and relaxed, the cuisine flavourful and honest, and close collaboration with local, sustainable producers at the heart of every bite. Beef is sourced from Markus Lütscher’s organic mountain farm in Arosa, potatoes from La Sorts organic farm in the neighbouring Albula Valley, and the beautifully displayed cheese wheels from the local Maran dairy. True to the holistic principles of ‘Moving Mountains’, the Tschuggen Collection’s unique philosophy of holiday wellbeing, the menu spotlights a range of plant-based dishes and wild superfoods like local sea buckthorn. Classic crowd-pleasers like Truffle Hörnli – an authentically Swiss take on truffle macaroni – and Grandma’s Apple Strudel round out the culinary offering.

The dining experience is also given a delightful local twist. Guests can discover all things Grisons in our fun and fascinating ‘Basement Büechli’ pamphlets or enjoy a round or two of dice game Tschigg, a long-time local favourite. The thoughtfully styled interior extends the immersive Grisons experience with long-forgotten souvenirs from mountain adventures past. The food is served in hand-painted farmer’s ceramics from the Moesching ceramics studio; the fine Grisons wines in lovingly engraved wine glasses. As the evening draws on, the hotel’s own bowling alley ensures fun enough to last into the night. Next door, our youngest guests can learn to enjoy Mother Nature responsibly in the newly refurbed Kids Club and Forest Academy.

The Tschuggen Grand Hotel will be open for the 2023/2024 winter season from 24 November 2023 to 2 April 2024. For further information and bookings, please visit tschuggen.ch or call the Tschuggen Grand Hotel on +41 81 378 99 99.
