One hundred years of the Tschuggen Collection; one hundred years of holidays in Switzerland’s most beautiful destinations. Our centenary also marks a hundred years since the birth of winter tourism and superior skiing holidays in the Arosa region. Skiing is firmly anchored in the company’s history. Now, the Tschuggen mountainside where it all began will host a unique event to mark the occasion: the Race for Nature.
As pioneering establishments with a mission to break new ground in the industry, the four hotels of the Tschuggen Collection are dedicated to playing their part in tackling the climate crisis. Their success has been notable: when the hotel group went climate neutral in 2019, it was the first in Switzerland to do so. It was only right that the centenary celebrations brought this important theme to the fore. What better way to do this than a race for nature under the patronage of myclimate?
From 15 to 18 March 2023, forward-thinking companies will meet interested guests and dedicated climate protection organisations in Arosa to share ideas and explore opportunities for conserving nature. UBS, Ricola, ÖKK, BKW, the Graubündner Kantonalbank, Die Mobiliar and Rinigier Medien are among the organisations entering corporate teams in the race, the goal of which is to raise over CHF 250,000 for this fantastic cause. We want the snow-covered mountains and untouched nature to be preserved for the centuries and generations to come.
Corporate teams will be ably supported by former champions of the skiing world – Maria Walliser Anesini, Erika Reymond-Hess, Brigitte Oertli, Didier Cuche and Daniel Mahrer – as well as by young up-and-coming talent from the Arosa Ski Club. A total of CHF 50,000 prize money is available to be won on behalf of the teams’ selected conservation organisations. Of course, preparation – as ever – will be the key to success. After being assigned to one of our skiing pros, each team will spend a day training in the capable hands of their star mentor.
The Race for Nature will be attended by a number of environmental organisations under the patronage of the myclimate foundation. All are united by their commitment to a sustainable approach to nature and a future worth living. The Alpine Initiative, Protect our Winters, Aqua Viva, the Mountain Forest Project, the Bruno Manser Fund, Fairunterwegs, Green Advance and Naturnetz are some of the groups that will share their work and lead discussions on burning issues during fireside conservation chats and inspirational speeches.
This, too, will have nature conservation at its heart. At our closing dinner, we’ll crown the winners of our ski race as well as awarding other exciting prizes through our charity auction. Funds raised will allow us to offer even greater support to the tireless efforts of the nature conservation organisations.
This March, the Tschuggen Collection seeks to encourage forward-thinking businesses and guests to embrace their own share of responsibility for environmental and climate protection.
