Summer in the Mountains: 5 Reasons to Visit Arosa

Arosa is summer at its most expansive: over 200 kilometres of hiking trails, mountain lakes, panoramic golf, and with the Arosa Card, a wide range of experiences conveniently bundled into one.

Summer is the season for movement, indulgence and fresh perspectives. Arosa brings all of this together against a backdrop that instantly helps you switch gears: mountains instead of screens, open space instead of workload. The Tschuggen Grand Hotel is the perfect starting point – for days that begin outdoors and wind down in the warm glow of the evening.

A Breathtaking Journey

The journey to Arosa already feels like a holiday. From Chur, the Rhaetian Railway winds its way through the picturesque Schanfigg Valley, offering panoramic views every step of the way. Prefer to drive? Follow the legendary mountain road with its almost 300 bends and spectacular vistas as it climbs towards the high Alpine valley.

Discover Something New

Our Moving Mountains activities invite you to experience Arosa in unexpected ways – sometimes adventurous, sometimes deeply connected to nature. Try your hand at alphorn playing, fish in crystal-clear mountain lakes, enjoy a Kneipp session in an icy stream, or set off on a sunrise hike. These are the kinds of experiences that don’t need to fill an entire day to leave a lasting impression.

The Arosa Card

Included from your very first overnight stay, the Arosa Card makes everything easier – because less planning means more time to enjoy summer. The card provides complimentary access to the operating lifts of the Arosa mountain railways as well as the local bus service.

Fancy some classic summer activities? Pedalos and rowing boats are available on Obersee Lake, while Untersee Lake features a lido with a natural swimming area, a heated children’s pool and beach volleyball courts. Sports enthusiasts can also enjoy the ice sports arena or a round of Chippin Golf.

Adventures Right on Your Doorstep

Arosa is both active and wonderfully relaxed. The region is a true hiking paradise, with more than 200 kilometres of trails ranging from gentle walks to full-day hikes that lead past sparkling mountain lakes and through stunning Alpine scenery. Looking for inspiration? The famous 10-Lakes Hike is one of the area’s standout experiences.

And then there is golf with a view. Golf Club Arosa is one of the highest 18-hole golf courses in Europe, where every round comes with spectacular mountain panoramas.

Mountain bikers will find exciting trails, while those seeking tranquillity can explore peaceful forest paths and secluded lakes. And thanks to the Tschuggen Express, you can be immersed in nature within just a few minutes.

A Terrace Made for Unwinding

After a day spent outdoors, the terrace of our Grand Restaurant awaits: a cocktail in hand, far-reaching views before you, and the evening light settling over the crisp mountain air. It is exactly the moment when you realise just how much a summer day in Arosa has to offer.
