Arosa, (3 June 2026). Since 1 June 2026, Manuel Tumler has been Executive Chef at the Tschuggen Grand Hotel in Arosa, thereby remaining loyal to the privately owned Swiss hotel group, The Tschuggen Collection.
He is a chef and host by passion. Born in South Tyrol, he was quickly drawn to Switzerland after completing his apprenticeship in his home region – specifically to Küsnacht on Lake Zurich – before meeting his future mentor and head chef, Salvatore Frequente, just a few months later in December 2020 at the Hotel Giardino Mountain in Champfer. He subsequently followed him to both the Giardino Ascona and the Guarda Val in Lenzerheide. Since June 2023, he has been supporting Salvatore Frequente in various roles at the Tschuggen Collection – both at the Hotel Eden Roc in Ascona and at the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz – and has served as Executive Sous Chef at both establishments since November 2024.
Manuel Tumler is now moving from Lake Maggiore and the Engadin to Schanfigg, where he will take over as Executive Chef in charge of the main kitchen at the Tschuggen Grand Hotel. Together with Marco Campanella – who has been awarded 2 Michelin stars and 19 Gault Millau points – he will be responsible for the culinary direction at the eponymous hotel within the Tschuggen Collection.
Manuel Tumler succeeds Uwe Seegert, who was in charge of the culinary operations at the Tschuggen Grand Hotel for a total of 15 years. “We are delighted to have Manuel Tumler, a passionate and highly talented professional, at the helm of the kitchen at the Tschuggen Grand Hotel. He has been part of the Tschuggen Collection for several years now and shares our commitment to the highest quality as well as our dedication to sustainability,” said Silvana and Ingo Schlösser, hotel management at the Tschuggen Grand Hotel.
