From now on the Michelin-starred chef will be working with Mercedes-Benz Switzerland.
Zurich, (7 February 2024). Marco Campanella has two Michelin stars and 18 GaultMillau points to his name - making him one of the best chefs in Switzerland. The German-Italian was honored for the experience that he and his team offer guests at the La Brezza restaurant, which is located in the Hotel Eden Roc in Ascona in summer and in the Tschuggen Grand Hotel in Arosa in winter. In his creations, Campanella places particular emphasis on regional, seasonal and plant-based ingredients and never ceases to surprise his guests.
"My kitchen focuses on passion, innovation, precision and craftsmanship," emphasizes Campanella. With his philosophy and high quality standards, he is the perfect fit for Mercedes-Benz. "For both Marco and us, it's all about excellence in craftsmanship and always creating wow effects," says Roland Schell, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Switzerland.
Campanella grew up on Lake Constance in an Italian family of restaurateurs. After his training, he cooked under Martin Dalsass, Rolf Fliegauf and as chef de partie with Andreas Caminada at Schloss Schauenstein. He has been a chef in Ascona since summer 2018 and in Arosa in the hotels of the Swiss premium hotel group The Tschuggen Collection since the 2020/2021 winter season. "I'm constantly challenging myself and always want to improve together with my team," says the 32-year-old. Campanella, who has long been an enthusiast of the brand, shares these ambitions with Mercedes-Benz. He is now driving a Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV as an ambassador for Switzerland.
In 2018, Marco Campanella was named "Discovery of the Year in Ticino" by GaultMillau in the 2019 edition of the guide and was awarded his first Michelin star shortly afterwards. Since fall 2022, he and his team have each held 2 Michelin stars for the gourmet restaurant La Brezza at two locations. "It's great that partners like Mercedes-Benz appreciate Marco Campanella's great talent and that this has now resulted in a collaboration. As a hotel group, we support Marco in the background, because he is the face of the cooperation," says a delighted Simon Spiller, General Manager at the Hotel Eden Roc in Ascona, who has supported and promoted Campanella from the very beginning.
By working with Marco Campanella, Mercedes-Benz Switzerland is intensifying its successful culinary commitment. "As a Michelin-starred chef in Ticino, Marco ideally complements our proven collaboration with top chefs Sven Wassmer in Bad Ragaz and Guy Ravet in Vevey," says Roland Schell. The partnership with Switzerland's leading GaultMillau channel and with "Les Grandes Tables de Suisse", a Switzerland-wide association of top chefs, completes the commitment.
