The Tschuggen Collection raises CHF 355'000 for recognised nature conservation organisations on the occasion of its 100-year anniversary
Zürich, (27th March, 2023).On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Tschuggen Collection, the family-run hotel group invited guests to their charity event in Arosa: The Race for Nature. From 15 to 18 March 2023, 16 forward-thinking companies and 16 renowned nature conservation organisations came together at the Tschuggen Grand Hotel to advance the cause of protecting our natural world. Ably supported by world-famous skiing superstars, attendees also took part in a joint charity ski race. Their commendable efforts raised donations of more than CHF 355,000, which will be split between projects run by selected nature conservation organisations.
The Tschuggen Collection is the first Swiss premium hotel group to bring effective climate protection measures and exceptional standards of hotel management under one roof. Inspired by the locations amidst impressive natural scenery, the firmly-held belief that climate change and the protection of the environment are the most important challenges of our time is shared. Therefore, the anniversary of the hotel group is also intended to contribute to climate protection – in the hope that the pristine slopes and snow-covered mountains can be preserved for generations and centuries to come.
Working under the patronage of the myclimate foundation, the Tschuggen Collection hosted a total of 16 forward-thinking companies including UBS, Ricola, ÖKK, BKW, Graubündner Kantonalbank, Die Mobiliar and Ringier Medien. Corporate teams battled it out in the Race for Nature on behalf of respected nature conservation organisations such as Protect our Winters, the Alpine Initiative, Aqua Viva, the Bruno Manser Fund and the Swiss Parks Network. The teams’ efforts were expertly supported by former World Cup Skiers and Olympic Champions as well as by up-and-coming talents from the Arosa Ski Club. Alongside the charity ski race, an extensive programme of supporting events including an open-entry ski race for local residents, a gala dinner with charity auction and a range of workshops around environmental and climate issues were hosted during the three days. Most importantly, participating nature conversation organisations were given a platform to present their work and causes for the duration of the event. Solutions-driven conversations with attendees played a central role.
Thanks to the enthusiastic support of the attending companies and the commendable efforts of individual attendees, donations totalling CHF 355'795 were achieved - the initially planned contribution of CHF 250,000 for the nature conservation organisations was thereby significantly exceeded. In addition, discussions hosted around the event as well as during the workshops have already led to immediate long-term results, including a tree-planting campaign for school classes in the Schanfigg/Arosa forest district. This is being organised with the expert support of the conservation organisation There-for-you.
