2 Michelin Keys for Valsana Hotel

At the Valsana Hotel Arosa, you’ll find excellence at every level. The hotel has now been awarded two of the prestigious Michelin Keys, as listed in the Michelin Guide.

The Michelin Guide begins its review by praising the exterior of our property. Valsana Hotel & Appartments was recognizable from a distance as an Alpine lodge of sorts, but as you look more closely, the innovative details became apparent. “From the organic carved-wood forms of the balconies to the interiors, which trade the typical lodge style for an eclectic blend of wood, stone, glass, and richly varied furnishings and artworks”, is how the Michelin Guide describes the Valsana.

The guide also highlights our environmentally friendly approach.

“It’s as green as a modern mountain hotel should be, as well, using geothermal heating and an “ice battery” for energy-efficient climate control.”

All this without sacrificing comfort, says Guide Michelin. “The rooms go in for low-tech charms like parquet floors and down duvets, and while there’s a contemporary simplicity to the layouts, the rooms are anything but bare, thanks to the warm organic textures and the eclectic details.”

A fitness program crafted with care, complemented by a variety of healthy dinner choices.

The Michelin reviewers also noticed a charming detail in the interior: “Espresso machines are welcome, if expected, while in-room record players are both welcome and unexpected.”

The Valsana Spa, our tennis hall, and the fitness studio with its carefully curated class schedule also received praise. “And come dinnertime you’ll have healthy options to suit today’s idea of a post-ski meal — sure, there’s melted cheese, if you want it, but there’s also vegan and gluten-free fare, as well as a bit of a Middle Eastern influence.”

We thank the Michelin Guide for this wonderful review!

Hotel Director Philipp Estermann is equally proud and delighted with the accolade: “The two Michelin Keys motivate us even more to make Valsana what it is: bringing the beauty of nature indoors and creating a fresh, natural environment.” Estermann is also pleased with the positive assessment of the hotel’s culinary offerings, stating, “I see this as a confirmation of our healthy blend of classic and plant-based dishes.” Together with renowned nutritionist Rhaya Jordan, Valsana’s chefs have crafted wonderful Moving Mountains menus featuring delicious plant-based dishes. “Our offerings consist of carefully selected, regionally sourced ingredients that are nutritious, healthy, and flavorful.”

The Michelin Guide is an annual hotel and travel guide, with three Keys as the highest rating—an honor achieved within the Tschuggen Collection by the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz. In Switzerland, only 32 hotels have been awarded two Michelin Keys, and Valsana is one of just three 4-star hotels to receive this distinguished rating.
