This season, the Carlton Hotel is celebrating an extraordinary milestone – 111 years of hospitality, dedication, and elegance in the Engadine mountains. To mark this special occasion, we have collaborated exclusively with Isaure Atelier, who has created a unique illustration for our hotel.
But what inspires Isaure, and what techniques did she use? We asked her a few questions to learn more about her creative process.
What was the inspiration behind the artwork for our 111th anniversary?
My main goal was to create a harmonious dynamic between the prestigious Carlton Hotel and the surrounding natural elements – in a wintry, yet not cold atmosphere. I wanted to highlight the warmth and cosiness that the Carlton exudes, even in winter.
How did you capture the unique character of our hotel in the illustration?
Architecturally, the Carlton Hotel has a certain symmetry, with very square shapes and a white façade that almost blends into the snow. I wanted to highlight these characteristics by placing the hotel at the centre of my creation, surrounded by dynamic colours and rounded forms, creating an interesting contrast.
What techniques did you use to bring this artwork to life?
I used a technique that I often employ in my work: playing with warm and cool colours, rounded shapes, and perspectives to create depth. The final piece resembles a theatre set with multiple layers.
How is this project different from your previous work for luxury department stores and hotels?
Every project is unique, and that’s the exciting part! For this commission, the focus was on a very linear architecture, which contrasted with my usual rounded and colourful style. It was also special to transform the illustration into an animation that evolves in a timelapse.
What emotions do you hope guests will feel when viewing your masterpiece?
Above all, I want to evoke positive emotions – joy, warmth, and comfort. Exactly what the Carlton Hotel offers its guests.
With this unique collaboration, we are opening a new chapter in the history of the Carlton Hotel and are thrilled to present this special artwork to our guests throughout the winter season. We invite you to immerse yourself in a world of colours, shapes, and emotions – let’s celebrate this anniversary together!
